GUIDE Mentoring Program
The GUIDE (Giving Undergraduates Instruments to Develop and Excel) Mentoring Program was developed to expand the first year ALANA students' social network and promote academic success and co-curricular involvement. This commitment is for one academic year. During ALANA Orientation, potential mentors from the Bloomington/Normal community and incoming students will participate in a mixer to meet one another and initiate mentor relationships.
GUIDE Objectives
- Ensure students know we care about them and their success
- Assist first-year students in their transition to college
- Provide support and assistance to students’ personal, academic and social development
- Provide a social network that models healthy behaviors
- Promote academic excellence and co-curricular involvement
- Introduce first-year students to the Bloomington/Normal community outside of IWU
