May 4
Illinois Wesleyan sophomore Dan Chang was named to the first team of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin men's tennis squads by league coaches. Chang, who was a second team all-CCIW player in 2006, had an overall record at No. 1 singles of 6-12 (1-3 in the league). He teamed with Paul Oehrlein for a 7-12 mark at No. 1 singles. Chang was joined on the first team by Josh Williams of Wheaton (who was named the league's "Player of the Year"), Anthony McPherson of Elmhurst, and Miguel Yunes, Sergio Lopez and Jack Schiro, all from Carthage.

April 27-28
The Illinois Wesleyan men's tennis team finished fourth in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championship tournament on Sat., April 28 at Bloomington's Evergreen Racquet Club. IWU lost to Augustana, 7-2, as Dan Chang was a winner at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. He topped Tom Goebel, 6-0, 6-1 in singles and teamed with Paul Oehrlein to defeat Rafael Romero and Andy McCarter, 8-3. IWU's final season record was 4-15 in dual matches. On Friday, April 27, the Titans defeated Elmhurst, 6-3, in the tourney's first round before losing in the semifinals to Carthage, 9-0. Among the winners vs. Elmhurst was Oehrlein, who defeated Gregg Bayer, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 2 singles and teamed with Chang to top Anthony McPherson and Bayer, 8-4, at No. 1 singles.

April 17
The Illinois Wesleyan men's tennis team got its first dual match win of the season with an 8-1 downing of Beloit on Tuesday, April 17 in Beloit, Wis. No. 1 singles player Dan Chang was a 6-0, 6-0 winner against Steve Chun and teamed with Paul Oehrlein to defeat Chun and Charlie McMurray, 8-1, at No. 1 doubles. Oehrlein also won at No. 2 singles over McMurray by scores of 6-4, 6-2. The Titans are now 1-12 this season with regular season meetings still to come with Illinois-Springfield, North Central and Knox before the CCIW tournament, which will be April 27-28 at Bloomington's Evergreen Racquet Club.

April 10
The youthful Illinois Wesleyan men's tennis team is looking for its first dual match win of the season heading into its final three weeks of competition in 2007. The Titans are 0-11 overall and 0-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. Freshman Ryan Goergen has a 5-5 record as the Titans' No. 6 singles player and sophomore Dan Chang is 3-8 as the No. 1 singles player. Goergen and freshman Joe Lehman have combined for a 4-5 mark as IWU's No. 3 doubles squad. The CCIW tournament will be April 27-28 at Bloomington's Evergreen Racquet Club.

March 23
The Illinois Wesleyan men's tennis team lost the five games it played in Orlando, Fla., during the week of March 18-21. Ryan Goergen went 2-4 at No. 6 singles. Art Kastl was 1-4 at No. 4 singles, and Dan Chang is 1-5 at No. 1 singles to account for the IWU singles victories. Goergen and freshman Joe Lehman have played to a 4-2 record this season at No. 3 doubles. The Titans will face Carthage and Wheaton at Wheaton on Sat., March 31 and will host Monmouth (9 a.m.) and Carroll (3 p.m.) on Sun., April 1 at Beadles-Morse Courts.

February 17
The Illinois Wesleyan men's tennis team opened its 2007 dual match season with a 7-2 loss to St. Francis on Sat., Feb. 17 in Lockport, Ill. The Titans got doubles wins from the No. 1 team of Dan Chang and Paul Oerhlein (8-6) and the No. 3 team of freshmen Ryan Goergen and Joe Lehman (8-6). The Titans are 0-1 and will play again on March 18 in Orlando, Fla. against Babson.

January 2007

The Illinois Wesleyan men's tennis team,  under new head coach Jason Van Heuklon, will open its 2007 season on Sat., Feb. 17 at St. Francis in Joliet, Ill., then will play four matches in Orlando, Fla., during spring break. The Titans, who finished fifth in the 2006 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championships, will play their first home match on March 31 against Monmouth (9 a.m.) and Carroll (3 p.m.).
