BRETT CHAMERNIK, SENIOR, NAPERVILLE, ILL. (LISLE BENET ACADEMY)

AT ILLINOIS WESLEYAN – Has earned one letter and will serve as co-captain of this year’s team…Hard working player and a natural leader …2007-08: Missed the first eight games last season recovering from ongoing foot problems…Became a starter the last 11 games, primarily as a defensive stopper and secondary ball-handler…Had a .403 field goal percentage and shot .462 percent from long range, first on the team among players with more than 25 attempts…Scored 11 points in two separate games for season high…Looks to become more of a dynamic offensive threat for Wesleyan…One of only four upperclassmen returning…2006-07: Was injured in IWU's second game at UW-Whitewater (broken foot) and missed the rest of the season…Had four points, four rebounds and three assists in season opener vs. Clarke. AT ILLINOIS WESLEYAN – A pure point guard who is described as like having a coach on the floor with his controlled playmaking capabilities…Not physically imposing but steady and comes from winning tradition…IN HIGH SCHOOL: Was point guard for Class 4A state champion Oak Lawn Richards…Averaged 7.4 points and 6.2 rebounds for a Bulldog team that finished with a 30-4 record…Handed out five assists and made three steals along with nine points in 67-63 state championship win over Zion-Benton…High school coach: John Chapetto. SEAN JOHNSON, SOPHOMORE, WASHINGTON, ILL. (HS)

AT ILLINOIS WESLEYAN: Has earned one letter…2007-08: Third team all-CCIW selection as a freshman…His 312 points is 10th best for an IWU freshman and his 60 3-point field goals in tied for 11th in a Wesleyan season…Shooting guard who started year playing the point as a result of injuries…Started all 27 games last season and was an emotional leader on the court…Had season highs of 25 points (at Elmhurst) and five rebounds (twice)…Made seven 3-pointers in two games, one short of tying IWU game record…Led team in scoring eight times and was in double figures 15 times…Shot .397 from field and .375 from beyond the 3-point line…Looks to improve on .645 free throw percentage to become a top scoring threat in the CCIW…Made earliest “commitment” to IWU among freshmen in his recruiting class. AT ILLINOIS WESLEYAN – Has earned one letter…2007-08: Averaged 2.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 15 varsity games…Had five points in two separate games and season best was four rebounds (Wheaton)…Versatile big player who, with nice outside shot, can allow for opponent mismatch…Averaged 10.2 in junior varsity games and hit for 21 in win over Augustana JV…Will continue to improve as he gains experience at college level. AT ILLINOIS WESLEYAN– Has good size and athletic ability and knack for shot-blocking and rebounding…With added strength, has chance to be immediate contributor to IWU team that needs height…Had number of Division I and II scholarship offers…IN HIGH SCHOOL: First team sll-Corn Belt Conference and all-Pantagraph area selection as a senior when he averaged 13.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.4 blocks for the Pioneers, who finished with 17-11 record and was second in conference…Broke school record for blocks in a season and was team MVP…High school coach: Bob Fitzgerald…Also plans to play baseball at IWU as a pitcher…Has mid-80s fastball and as a junior he was 4-4 with 2.73 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 43 2/3 innings for Pioneers as a senior. AT ILLINOIS WESLEYAN: Showed great improvement as his high school senior year progressed and will benefit from experience gained at junior varsity level as a freshman. HIGH SCHOOL: Averaged 12.0 points and was a 77 percent free-throw shooter, helping the Wildcats to a Class 3A regional championship…Was a first team all-Big 12 Conference selection and a member of the Pantagraph All-Area team along with current teammates Jordan Zimmer and Eric McCullough…High school coach: Brian Cupples. AT ILLINOIS WESLEYAN – An outstanding shooter who brings size to the wing position and will give versatility in defensive matchups…IN HIGH SCHOOL: Consensus first-team Class 1A all-stater, his 347 career 3-pointers rank fifth in state history…Holds Delavan school records of 2,045 career points and 44 points in a game…Averaged 23.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.7 steals as a senior to help Delavan to a school record for victories (28-4)…Led area in 3-pointers (123) and free-throw percentage (91.3) and shot 42 percent from 3-point range…Pantagraph all-area team and first team all-conference…High school coach: Ryon Kramer.  PERSONAL: Jordan Douglas Zimmer...Born July 13, 1989...Majoring in business at IWU...Parents are Doug and Beth Zimmer...Father, uncle (Ron) and grandfather (Duane Sampen) all were athletes at Illinois Wesleyan…Doug was once IWU record holder in 400 and was track MVP for three years in the 1980s.
