Amelianovich, Dauksas Named First Team All-Americans
Illinois Wesleyan seniors Keelan Amelianovich and Adam Dauksas have been named to the first team of the men's basketball All-American squads chosen by D3hoops.com.
The pair become the ninth and 10th D3hoops.com All-American selections since the service began in 1997. Dauksas was a first team choice last year and Amelianovich was a second team All-American as a sophomore and junior (2005). IWU's Korey Coon was a first team D3hoops.com All-American in 2000 after being on the second team in 1999. Luke Kasten was a third team All-American in 2002-03 and earned honorable mention in 2001 while Brent Niebrugge was a third team choice in 1998.
Amelianovich and Dauksas both set career records as the 25-7 Titans won 25 or more in a season for just the fourth time in school history. Amelianovich set the Titans' career standard with 252 3-pointers and broke his own single-season record with 97 3-pointers.`Amelianovich capped his Wesleyan career as the No. 7 scorer in school history with 1,590 points and his 596 points this season are the sixth highest total ever by a Titan.
Dauksas is IWU's career assist record holder with 579 and set the single-season mark of 204. He ranks 10th with 1,475 points and fourth at 208 3-pointers.
Amelianovich and junior Zach Freeman (519 points) became just the second teammates to reach the 500-point milestone in the same season. Chris Simich (559) and Bryan Crabtree (534) accomplished the feat in 1995-96.
