CCIW POSTSEASON TOURNAMENT: This is the first year for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin to determine its automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship by playing a postseason tournament…The CCIW has had a women’s postseason tournament since 2003.
AIMING FOR NO. 20: One more victory would give the 19-5 Titans their 19th 20-win season in school history and the 18th in the last 41 years...IWU has its 17th straight season with a record of .500 or better. The 2001-02 team was 12-12 and the last sub-.500 season was 1988-89 (12-14).
D3HOOPS.COM POLL: The Titans are No. 12 in the week’s D3hoops.com poll (week 12), while Augustana is No. 9, North Central is No. 19 and Elmhurst is No. 28…IWU was No. 1 in the poll in the preseason and in weeks Nos. 1-5.
THE NCAA TOURNEY: If IWU wins the CCIW Tournament and gets the league's automatic bid, it would be the Titans' fourth straight NCAA showing and the 18th appearance in the NCAA tourney in the 23 years since dropping out of NAIA competition (after 1982-83)...IWU has made 12 appearances in the round of 16 in the NCAA Division III tournament...In the 1990s, IWU made the Division III tournament nine time and six years in a row (1994-99)...IWU is 34-17 in the NCAA tourney and 30-19 in NAIA postseason play from 1948-83.
SCOTT TROST: In his fifth season at Illinois Wesleyan, Scott Trost (Minnesota-Morris 1985) has compiled a 95-35 record (.731) and a 50-20 mark (.714) in the CCIW…In nine seasons overall, Trost has a record of 146-84 (.635) and a CCIW ledger of 75-51 (.595)…The .731 overall winning percentage is the best at IWU for coaches with more than two years of service, ahead of Wally Roettger (.680, 117-55 in 11 years, 1924-35) and Dennie Bridges (.674, 667-319 in 36 years, 1965-2001). After a 12-12 initial season at IWU, Trost’s teams are 83-23 (.783)...He was 51-49 and 25-31 in four seasons at Elmhurst (1992 to 1996).
KEELAN AMELIANOVICH: With 1443 points, senior Keelan Amelianovich is No. 9 in career scoring at IWU...He is third in school history with 233 career 3-pointers, behind Korey Coon (245, 1996-2000) and Mark Edmundson (235, 1986-90)… His 78 3-pointers this season is No. 3 at IWU for a single season. He holds the season record with 82 (2003-04)…He is 38th with 391 career rebounds at the school and his field goal percentage of .511 is 13th best in a career…He has made 515 career field goals, 16th best in an IWU uniform…He was elected to the District V All-Academic team and is again in consideration for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American team…Was named CCIW “Player of the Week” twice this season, most recently on Jan. 23 as he averaged 22 points in two wins. In an OT win vs. Wheaton, Amelianovich scored 27 points and scored 17 in just 25 minutes vs. North Park... Named “Most Valuable Player” in holiday Tom Byron Classic in California.
ADAM DAUKSAS: One of 16 national finalists for the Cousy Award, honoring the best point guard in all divisions…With 1381 points, Adam Dauksas is No. 12 in career scoring at IWU...Dauksas has 541 career assists, the all-time leader at the school, eclipsing the mark held by Brian Martin (524, 1989-93)...He is No. 6 all-time with 351 free throws made…His 161 assists this season in third most at IWU, behind Chad Hutson (198, 1994-95) and Martin (165, 1990-91)…He is fourth in school history with 194 career 3-pointers, behind Amelianovich, Edmundson and Coon (see above for totals)…His .791 career free throw percentage is 7th best in an IWU uniform and he is No. 46 with 346 career rebounds…CCIW “Player of the Week” once this year…Named “Most Valuable Player” in early season Wabash Tournament.
MISCELLANEOUS: Junior Zach Freeman is No. 38 in career scoring at IWU with 987 points and is No. 15 all-time in rebounds at IWU with 528…Senior Cory Jones is No. 42 all-time at IWU with 363 career rebounds…IWU has made a 3-point field goal in 285 straight games dating back to 1996…The IWU seniors have been part of teams that are 83-23 (.783) in their four years with three straight CCIW championships and three NCAA Division III appearances…The Titans’ five losses have been by a total of 26 points with one in overtime.
WORKING OVERTIME: Illinois Wesleyan has had four overtime games in 2005-06, the first time in a season since the 1992-93 team played in four extra-period games. The 1982-83 team also had four overtime games and the Titans had three OT games in 1997-98, 1985-86 and 1980-81.
IWU vs. AUGUSTANA: Illinois Wesleyan has an 83-54 lead in the series, dating back to 1914-15...Augustana has won eight of the last 13 meetings and has won both games this season – 57-54 in Bloomington on Jan. 25 and 93-85 in overtime in Rock Island on Feb. 15.
IWU vs. ELMHURST: Illinois Wesleyan has won six of the last seven meetings and has a 92-16 lead in the series that goes back to 1946. The Bluejays topped IWU, 72-64, at Elmhurst on Jan. 14 and IWU won by an 88-87 margin in overtime (Feb. 4) in Bloomington...The Titans have 18 straight home wins against Elmhurst dating back to 1988-89.
IWU vs. NORTH CENTRAL: IWU has a 103-30 lead in the series vs. North Central (dating back to 1920-21), has won seven of the last eight and 30 of the last 33…The Cardinals’ 74-70 win on Jan. 4 in Bloomington ended an IWU six-game winning streak against North Central…Illinois Wesleyan outscored North Central, 23-8, in the final 8:43 to come from an 80-68 deficit to post a 91-88 win in Naperville on Feb. 1.
