Collegiate Baseball 2009 Preseason Division III Poll
The 2009 Illinois Wesleyan baseball team has been picked No. 16 in the preseason Division III poll done by D3baseball.com and also in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. in the D3baseball.com poll, Carthage is No. 24 and Augustana is No. 25 while Wheaton was No. 36.
In the Collegiate Baseball paper, other College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin schools ranked include Wheaton (No. 23) and Carthage (No. 31). Wesleyan opens its 2009 season at the DePauw University tournament March 7 and 8 in Greencastle, Ind. The Titans will play Hanover at 1 p.m. and DePauw at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, then will play a doubleheader against the host Tigers at noon on Sunday, March 8. The Titans finished with the 2008 season with a 33-11 overall mark, won the CCIW regular season phase with an 18-3 record, won the league’s postseason tournament and played in the NCAA Division III regional. The Titans are coached by Dennis Martel, whose 19-year record is 540-331-3.
