Organize Your Citations - RefWorks

RefWorks is a web-based product that allows individuals to enter, import, and then to organize citations into formats using a wide variety of citation styles. This resource is available to all current IWU students, faculty, and staff.  Sometimes you may be asked for a IWU group code.  Please check with the Info Desk for this information.

Cite What You Find

Citing materials and keeping accurate records is essential to research. When you restate someone else's original idea or quote someone directly, you must cite these sources using a style approved by your instructor. The most common styles used on IWU campus are APA and MLA.

  • MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers. 7th ed. (REF. LB 2369 .G53 2009)
  •  Manual of the American Psychological Association. 6th ed. (REF. BF 76.7 .P83 2009)
  • The Writing Center has created online guides, which explain how to use the APA, MLA, and Chicago citation styles. These guides are also available in print at the entrance to the library and in the writing center.

Remember if you fail to cite resources accurately, you could be found guilty of academic dishonesty or plagiarism. The University's Handbook discusses this in detail.  The resources above will help you to cite your work correctly and in line with University guidelines.
