IWU Records Management Policy
Mission Statement:
The university archives documents the history of Illinois Wesleyan University from 1850 to the present, and the activities of its faculty, staff, and students. The primary purpose of the archives is to appraise, collect, organize, describe, make available, and preserve records of historical, legal, fiscal, and/or administrative value to Illinois Wesleyan University, with an emphasis on all significant university publications.
The purpose of the archives is also to serve as a resource and laboratory to stimulate and nourish creative teaching and learning; to serve research and scholarship by making available and encouraging the use of its collections by members of Illinois Wesleyan University and the community at large; and to promote knowledge and understanding of the origins, aims, programs, and goals of Illinois Wesleyan University.
Collection Development Policy:
Records are defined as all recorded information regardless of format or medium. This includes, but is not limited to, handwritten and printed paper documents, posters, ephemera, microforms, photographs, audiovisual materials, and electronic records.
