The Ames Library has 3 Amazon Kindle's available for students, faculty and staff to checkout at the Circulation Desk.  Each Kindle comes loaded with over 100 leisure and academic titles (Use CTRL-F to search through the list of titles).  If you don't see a title that you are looking for, you may request one title under $20.00 be loaded in advance of check-out by filling out the Kindle Title Request Form. You will be notified when the Kindle is ready to be picked up (textbooks may not be loaded onto eReaders). We are very excited to provide an opportunity for our users to experience reading on a Kindle.   We are very interested in learning how you like to interact with the Kindle.  What kind of content is useful to you in this format?  Please e-mail any comments or suggestions you may have about this service.

Checkout Details

• Three-week loan period - Kindle Title List (Use CTRL-F to search title list)
• Kindles are loaned on a first-come-first-serve basis - check here for availability.  A wait-list is available, please contact Brian D. Sheehan @ (309) 556-1336.
• Please return the eReaders to the Circulation Desk. eReaders can be fragile, so please do not put it in the book drop.
• If any Kindle is 14 days overdue it will be declared lost and the patron's account charged. The replacement cost for the Kindle is $110.
• Charges will be assessed for lost parts or damage fee up to the cost of replacement depending on the level of damage. Also, a replacement fee will be charged if a Kindle is reported missing or stolen while checked out to your account.
• Do not pile other books or materials on the Kindle. This may damage the screen.
• Anything you saved to the Kindle will be deleted when it is returned.
