Visiting Art Historian 2012-2013

The School of Art at Illinois Wesleyan University seeks a qualified visiting faculty member to teach art history. The appointment is for a one-year, two semester term with a three course load each term. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in art history or visual studies. Applications will also be considered from candidates who are A.B.D. The course teaching load will include Introduction to Art History, Surrealism to Pop Art, Contemporary Art: Pop to Present and Senior Seminar.  The ability to teach Manet to Dada is a desired adjunct but not required. In addition to the required courses, the successful candidate will also teach one or two courses in an area of interest and expertise. We would welcome non-western and/or nontraditional topics courses.

Applicants should submit a statement of teaching philosophy that includes views on teaching art history to undergraduate students within a liberal arts environment. Applicants should also submit a letter of application, a vita, and three letters of recommendation.
