International Studies offers students the opportunity to explore the relationships between global problems and local experiences. As international entities have become increasingly dependent upon one another regardless of geography and nationality, international issues have become a major part of nearly every area of study. The International Studies Program is especially charged with advancing Illinois Wesleyan University's educational mission of preparing students for democratic citizenship and life in a global society.
We offer concentrations in African Studies, Asian Studies, Latin American Studies, Russian and East European Studies, Western European Studies, Development Studies and Diplomatic Studies. For more information concerning the International Studies program and the areas of concentration, please visit About the Program. Three student awards administered by the program are: the Technos Award, the Pedro E. and Rufina A. Oliveros Memorial Award, and the Outstanding Senior Award. The International Studies Student Handbook provides information for each area of concentration.
