Intramural Floor Hockey Rules

1. 5 players are allowed on court at one time.  A team can begin with only 4 players.

2. Game time—5 minute warm up allowed prior to start of game.

3. Game time will consist of 3 x 15 minute periods with a 2.5 minute break between each period.

4. Puck may be advanced with stick only.  It may be stopped with foot, but may not be kicked in any way.

5. There shall be no checking of any opposing player at any time.  Rough play or checking will result in a 5 minute penalty and/or ejection if offender has multiple infractions.

6. The official will start each period by dropping the puck at the center circle face off line.  All other players must be at least 6 feet away.

7. A goal shall be scored when the entire puck has completely crossed the back of the goal line.  The puck can be deflected off a player or piece of equipment but cannot be kicked, thrown, or deliberately diverted into the goal.  A goal from a high stick is not allowed.  No player can penetrate the crease to score a goal.  If any defensive player besides the goalie stops the puck from scoring while standing in the crease a free penalty shot will occur from the basketball free throw line.
