Professor of History Harvard University
Professor Young specializes in early modern England and Europe from the Renaissance to the French Revolution. In addition to his courses on English and European history, Professor Young also teaches the sophomore-level seminar required of all history majors which emphasizes skills in analyzing, writing, and researching.He is the author of three books about the reigns of King Charles I and King James I of England. His most recent work examines the so-called favorites of King James in relation to the history of homosexuality.In 1987 he received the university's highest award for service and teaching.
