Fraternity & Sorority Life

The students and staff of the Fraternity & Sorority community at Illinois Wesleyan University would like to thank you for your interest in discovering what it means to be Greek.

As we celebrate more than 140 years as a Fraternity & Sorority community, the members of our chapters are accepting the challenge to re-new their commitment to the common founding principles of all fraternities and sororities: leadership, scholarship, service, and fellowship. This commitment to “living our ritual” reminds our members to strive for excellence in the classroom, to responsibly lead their peers, to devote countless hours towards community service and philanthropy and to develop lifelong friendships both within and outside of their individual chapters. Simply put, the members of the Fraternity and Sorority community at Illinois Wesleyan University stand out.

Are you ready to accept the challenge? If so, we encourage you to participate in recruitment to find out what it means to stand out and be Greek.

SORORITY FALL 2009 RECRUITMENT DATES

The College Panhellenic Council will be hosting a variety of pre-recruitment events designed to allow interested students an opportunity to see if sorority life is for them. The first pre-recruitment event will be a Campus-wide Sisterhood on Thursday, September 3.  This event is open to all females students at IWU. Additional pre-recruitment events are in the process of being planned such as Study Tables with junior and senior level sorority members to help provide a general overview of what it is like to be a member of a sorority prior to making the commitment to participate in recruitment.

We will also be hosting two Recruitment Orientations to allow interested students to get any final answers to questions about sorority life, get the final details about formal recruitment and have fun meeting the other interested students. Students are required to attend one of these orientations to participate in sorority recruitment. The first orientation will be held on Thursday, September 10 with the second being held on Sunday, September 20.

On Thursday, September 17, chapters will host interested women for Open House Night.  This is the first recruitment event held at the chapter houses.

On Saturday, September 19, chapters will host participants for House Tour Night. This event is a required event. PNMs will attend all four sororities.

On Sunday, September 20, chapters will host a Make-Up Round for any students that have to miss a required round due to University related reasons such as class or athletics. If you will not be missing a round, you do not attend this night.

On Thursday, September 24, Potential New Members (PNM) will have a meeting with their Recruitment Counselors to check in regarding the final three days of recruitment.  This is a required event.

On Friday, September 25, chapters will host PNMs for Philanthropy Night.  This is a required, invitational round. PNMs will attend a maximum of three chapters.

On Saturday, September 26, chapters will host PNMs for Preference Night.  This is the final night of recruitment before making your selection. This is a required, invitational round. PNMs will attend a maximum of two chapters.

On Sunday, September 27, the recruitment process will end with Bid Day. This is where PNMs find out which chapter they have been invited to join.

**For all events indicated as required you MUST notify Panhellenic of your inability to attend these events  when you register for recruitment to avoid being removed from the process.
