The Alpha Gamma Delta Xi Chapter was founded on Illinois Wesleyan Universitys campus in 1914 when a local Fraternity (Pi Delta Theta) joined with Alpha Gamma Delta. It was not until 1927 that sororities at Wesleyan were privileged to rent chapter houses; previous to this time each group was allocated a room in a campus building for its meetings. With the help of many Greek alumnae, sororities were eventually allowed to purchase chapter houses in 1929. On June 26, 1930, their dream became a reality when the ladies of Xi Chapter became the first sorority on Illinois Wesleyans campus to buy a house.
The women of Alpha Gamma Delta, Xi Chapter have lived at 1409 N Main since that day, and could not be happier to be there.
No, only for members who fall below a 3.14 GPA.
Members with a GPA under our house average will be given a specialized study plan designed to improve their academic standing. We have publish each member's major and minor, and ensure that each member knows who can help them if they are struggling in classes. We encourage studying together in and out of the chapter house, and are always there to help a sister in need!
If a member falls below the required GPA, she is placed on academic probation and is no longer considered in Good Standing. The Vice President Scholarship will meet with her on a weekly basis, discuss her academic progress with professors, and serve as a support system until the member's GPA improves.

In the past, all girls have gotten to live in our house in their sophomore and junior years after pledging. This past year, however we initiated 32 girls, which forced us to house some of our girls in on-campus housing. The order of living in the house was determined by pledge class order in combination with our academic requirements. All members of Executive Council must live in the house. Our official bylaws state the following priorities for living in the house: Members shall live in the chapter housing according to the following priorities:
New members may live in the chapter housing in order of grade point average when there is space available.
This being said, most of our seniors choose to live off-campus, which frees up spots in the house for our sophomores. Our quota has been reduced this year, so we do not anticipate any housing dilemmas such as occurred this year in the future.

Juvenile Diabetes
The Walk 2010 Challenge, Defeat Diabetes, One Step at a Time
Traditionally we host a Casino Night each year at our house from which proceeds go to support Juvenile Diabetes research. This past year we also hosted a car wash, and members were given the opportunity to participate in several other service events.
Each sister is either required to donate $10 for Casino Night or to solicit donations in the community up to that value.
Length: 4 months
Hours Per Week: 4 hours per week
Members each receive a New Member handbook and are introduced to the ideals of the international chapter, and our own chapter. They are paired with a sister mother, who befriends them and helps them to learn more about the organization. They have weekly meetings with an upperclassman leader, called a "big momma." She helps them to learn about the organization and become comfortable. Sisterhood events are planned so that the new members may become acquainted with the older members. New members are encouraged to visit the house frequently and spend time with the members for meals, etc. By the end of the new member/pledge period the girls are ready to be initiated and have made a strong connection with the organization.
