Historically, each senior has given a one-time class gift equal to his or her year of graduation ($20.08, for example). Members of the Class of 2011 will instead be asked to give $5 during each of their first three years and $5.11 in their senior year, totaling a gift of $20.11. Why? Obviously, the purpose is not to increase the amount of money raised by the class--the purpose is to create a culture of philanthropy within the student body. As philanthropy becomes habitual, students will be better prepared for their role as alumni, supporting future generations of Titans and strengthening their alma mater each and every year.
