Delta Phi Alpha, a national collegiate German honorary society, seeks to recognize excellence in the study of German and to provide an incentive for higher scholarship. The society aims to promote the study of the German language, literature and civilization and endeavors to emphasize those aspects of German life and culture which are of universal value and which contribute to man's eternal search for peace and truth. Our local chapter of Delta Phi Alpha is the Lambda Psi Chapter.
Members are currently enrolled students who are inducted during the Spring semester in which they are registered and meet other qualifications as described below. According to the national by-laws for Delta Phi Alpha induction, the candidate must have:
Once inducted, members are eligible to apply for national scholarships and take part in other local and national Delta Phi Alpha activities. Please see the national organization Web site, the link of which is provided above.
The Delta Phi Alpha National German Honorary Society began with the founding of the Alpha chapter at Wofford College in 1927, and now has constituent chapters at 236 colleges and universities throughout the United States.
