Mr. Kuglich served 34 years as a high school English teacher and English Department Chair.  He joined the IWU Educational Studies Department in 2001.  He has a B.A. in English from Lewis University, an M.A. in English from Illinois State University, and numerous additional graduate hours in English, Curriculum, Administration, and Supervision. He holds certification in both teaching and supervision.  He has had extensive experience as a high school English teacher, a department chairperson, a negotiator of teaching contracts, the president of a teachers’ union, a mentor for new teachers, an ISBE writing evaluator,  a cooperating teacher for student teachers, and both a course instructor and a university supervisor for student teachers at IWU.  He has also been a frequent presenter at workshops and conventions on a variety of topics including:  Creative Writing, Written Composition, Teaching Grammar, Assessment, and Collective Bargaining.

At IWU, he has taught Educ. 491, Student Teaching Seminar for Humanities, Educ 360, Secondary Curriculum, and Educ 360 A, Teaching English in the Secondary Schools.  He also serves as the University Supervisor for English Student Teachers.
