Teacher Certification Requirements

Illinois Wesleyan University is accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) for the undergraduate preparation of teachers in the following certification programs:

Elementary (K-9)
Biology (6-12)
Chemistry (6-12)
Physics (6-12)
English (6-12)
History (6-12)
French (K-12)
Spanish (K-12)
Mathematics (6-12)
Music Education (K-12)

Students must apply and be formally admitted to the Teacher Education Program. Most students apply spring semester of their sophomore year. Please see the Teacher Education Program Handbook for more information regarding the department, phases & requirements for application to the program, and course and certification requirements.
