Student Teaching Seminar

Seminar taken concurrently with student teaching (Ed 491, 492, 493, 494, 495, or 496). Initiation of self-study project (proposal and data collection) to be completed in Educ 498. Summer reading required prior to the start of the term. Ongoing reflection on the student teaching experience, in particular issues of self-study and social justice. Review of state standards and collection of evidence documenting teaching competencies for the Senior Portfolio.
Full time immersion and induction into the range of experiences associated with public school teaching under the guidance and direction of a cooperating teacher and university supervisor. Concurrent attention to documenting teaching competencies and gathering evidence for the Senior Portfolio. Discussion of potential teacher inquiry projects and social justice issues confronted by teachers.
Prerequisites: 100 hours of field experience and acceptance to Student Teaching.
Offered each fall, usually multiple sections per grade level and discipline.
