Promise and Potential is a partnership between Bloomington Junior High School and Illinois Wesleyan University designed to

• Improve the educational achievement of struggling middle school students  ­- who we believe are youth with promise and potential.
• Provide an opportunity for IWU students to engage in community service and develop their skills in working with youth.
• Support the professional development of teacher-scholars for social justice.

This mission has guided the development of the Coaches mentor program. Coaches are IWU student mentors matched with pairs of BJHS students during school hours for tutoring and mentoring activities, under the supervision of BJHS teachers.
