Professor Moralee joined the faculty in 2003. He teaches Greek, Roman, and Late Roman history as well as Latin at all levels. His research interests currently include inscriptions as artifacts; topographical and religious change in cities and villages; and constructions of race in the later Roman empire. His publications on these topics include the monograph "For Salvation's Sake: Provincial Loyalty, Personal Religion, and Epigraphic Production in the Roman and Late Antique Near East (2004) and the articles "The Stones of St. Theodore: Disfiguring the Pagan Past in Christian Gerasa," Journal of Early Christian Studies (2006) and "Petra and the Saracens: New Evidence from a Recently Discovered Epigram" (in press).
