The white board was used to keep track of readers who had signed up to read in 15-minute periods (approximately 250 lines).

On World Poetry Day, March 21st 2012, IWU hosted a Homerathon. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni read through the entire Odyssey, taking 13 hours.

In March 2012, the National Honor Society for Classics, Eta Sigma Phi, hosted its 84th annual conference at the University of Missouri-Columbia. The Theta Iota chapter at Illnois Wesleyan sent one delegate, Melissa Huang '13.
