Mock Interview
Program
What is the Mock
Interview Program?
The Mock Interview program was established to help students
"practice" their interviewing skills. These interviews
are conducted by professionals in the human resource field who
volunteer their time and expertise.
How do I sign
up?
- To sign up for a mock interview, students
must be registered with our eRecruiting system and have
uploaded a resume. Since these interviews are for
practice only, students in any major may apply for any
position with any professional.
How do I prepare for the mock
interviews?
- While the interviewer is not representing
their company during the time of the interview, it is
recommended that students possess some knowledge of the
company. Students are also expected to dress
professionally as if it were an actual interview. This
ensures that the simulation is as real as
possible.
How is the mock
interview conducted?
- The interviewer will spend approximately
thirty minutes with each student. The first twenty minutes
will be the actual interview while the last ten minutes will
be reserved for feedback from the interviewer.
How will I be
evaluated?
- Each mock interview will be videotaped
allowing students the opportunity to critique their own
"performance." Students will have five working days after the
interview to review the tape. Contact the Hart Career Center
at 556-3071 to arrange a date and time for viewing your
interview. The interviewer will also fill out an evaluation
form for each student which can be picked up the following
day. Each student will be evaluated on a variety of factors
including personal appearance, self-confidence, enthusiasm,
and leadership ability.
What are some of
the resources at the Career Center that I can consult prior to
my mock interview?
- Knock 'm Dead with Great Answers to Tough
Interview Questions
- Your First Interview
- Job Choices - Volume 1 (Free publication at
the Career Center)
- Company Literature Files
If you cancel your mock
interview, you must do so by 5:00 PM two business days prior to
the interview date.
If you do not show up
for a scheduled mock interview, you will NOT be allowed to
participate in subsequent mock interviews. Students who wish to
have their revoked privileges reinstated must schedule an
appointment with Warren Kistner, Director of the Career
Center.
