Getting to know the Focus system
The Focus system is an online career guidance tool which is specifically tailored to self-guidance and interest exploration.  Spending some time exploring your own interests, values, and personality is a great foundation to bring with you when you meet with one of our career specialists to discuss your major and career options.

Getting Started: Account Creation

Using Focus-2
There are three main areas that the Focus system can help with: Career Readiness, Self Assessment, and Career Exploration.

The Career Readiness section contains some self-assessments to help evaluate the student’s career and educational goals, academic strengths and accomplishments, as well as a section to pin-point personal career development needs.

A number of Self Assessments are contained within the Focus system. Some of these include a work interest, leisure interest, skills, personality, and values assessments. These assessments show the occupations and major areas of study which match your preferences. This section also includes the ability to combine multiple assessments to find a common interest.

The Career Exploration section has a wide range of professions stored with a great amount of information on each. This includes searches by name or industry, occupation side-by-side comparison, and a ‘What can I do with a major in..?” section.
