Join us for the annual BFA / BA Senior Art Exhibitions in which graduating art majors exhibit their finest works produced during the senior year. The exhibition, held in the University’s Merwin and Wakeley Galleries, will include works from all areas of the art program: painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, graphic design, ceramics, sculpture and glass. This year, eight students will be participating in the exhibition:
At the reception on Saturday, April 20th, five special awards will be presented:
The Ames Library Purchase Award
The CLA Social Sciences Art Purchase Award
The Women's Studies Art Purchase Award
The Admissions Art Purchase Award
Senior Exhibition Honors
For the last 18 years the Ames Library has purchased an artwork from the Senior Show to add to their permanent collection. For the duration of one year, this work is displayed on the first floor of the Library after which time it is moved to a permanent location for public display.
For over 11 years, members of the IWU Social Sciences faculty have supported a Purchase Award for their building. The CLA purchase award has built a substantial collection of student artwork that can be seen throughout the Social Science building.
Now in its 7th year the Women's Studies Art Purchase Award will give a student the honor of having a piece of his or her art work on permanent display in the Women's Studies Department of the CLA Building.
The Admissions Art Purchase Prize, now in its fifth year, selects a work that will be on permanent display in the university admissions offices.
Following the reception on April 20th, the University-wide John Wesley Powell Student Research Conference will come to the galleries later that afternoon. At 2pm, those students who have participated in the senior critique program will talk about their works on display in the galleries. Refreshments will be served, and both these events are free and open to the public.
