Emilio Santini was born in Murano, Italy, into a family with six hundred years of Venetian glass blowing tradition. His father, a glass blower and self taught lampworker, was his first teacher. Santini studied at the University of Venice and in various Venetian glass studios with master glass artists. He also has exhibited in various cities in the United States and Europe including Paris, London, Frankfurt, Venice, Chicago, and Seattle. Santini is represented by some of the most important galleries in the world and is featured in major private and museum collections.
Emilio Santini has conducted workshops, as a visiting artist, at the Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle, The School for American Crafts at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, Corning Museum of Glass in New York, and at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. Emilio Santini resides with his family in Williamsburg, VA, where he works glass full-time in his studio. He also is a faculty member at the Virginia Commonwealth University glass department in Richmond.
