FAQ - Transfer Information

1.  Do AP credits transfer to IWU?
Yes. For specific transferability, go to the Registrar’s website at:  http://www.iwu.edu/registrar/fystudents/AP_IB_credit.shtml.

2.  Do I need approval to take a course at another college and transfer it to IWU?
Yes. You will need to fill out a Request for Transfer of Credit form (available in the Registrar’s Office, Holmes 110). Guidelines and Required Items for Transfer of Credit are found on this form.

3.  What is concurrent enrollment, and do I need concurrent enrollment approval?
Concurrent enrollment means taking courses at another institution at the same time as you are enrolled at IWU.  This is possible if preapproved by the Registrar’s Office.  Contact the Registrar’s Office for more information.

4.  What if my transfer work is not showing on my Degree Evaluation?
Contact the Registrar’s Office (309) 556-3161 and make sure that IWU has received a copy of an official transcript from the transfer institution. Absolutely no transfer work can be entered on the IWU transcript until we receive an official transcript from the school.

5.  Will study abroad courses transfer?
IWU does not allow students to take their study abroad coursework on a credit/ no credit basis.  For affiliated programs, all coursework -- including failed courses -- from a semester or academic year off-campus study program will be reflected as IWU credit on your University transcript and will be factored into your IWU cumulative grade point average. For more information, visit the International Office.

6.  Why should I study abroad?
Thinking about studying abroad?  The study abroad experience will give you the opportunity to learn about other cultures as well as yourself.  For more information on study abroad, visit the International Office website:  http://www.iwu.edu/studyabroad/thinkingabout/
