IWU Admissions Information

Overview

Figuring out how to start learning about a college all depends on how much you already know. If you have never had any contact with Illinois Wesleyan, a good way to start is by filling out our online request form. This will allow you to receive information on almost every facet of the university (majors, athletics, activities, etc.) and will automatically add you to our mailing list for future campus events.

Another great source of information is your personal college admission counselor. You can meet with one of our counselors at your high school, local college fair, on campus, over the phone, or through e-mail. To find out who your counselor is, just check out our Admissions Staff page.

Of course, the best way to learn about a college is by seeing it firsthand. The IWU Admissions Office is open year-round to schedule campus visits. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturdays. Prospective students and their families are invited to contact the Admissions Office to set up appointments for campus visits by calling 1-800-332-2498.

Typical campus visits for prospective students include:

  • A talk with an admission counselor to discuss educational interests and plans.
  • A campus tour accompanied by a student guide.
  • Arrangements can be made in advance to visit specific classes and meet with professors and coaches.

A better picture of college life is possible if visitors come when classes are in session. More classes are available for students to observe on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Classes do not meet on Saturdays.

With advance notice, applicants can make arrangements to spend the night on campus, free-of-charge, with a current IWU student. The Admissions Office will provide complimentary meals and tickets to any theatre or athletic events taking place that evening.

If you just can't wait to see the campus or want to take a sneak peek, check out our virtual campus tour.

For any other assistance in making travel plans, please don't hesitate contacting the Admissions Office.
