Action Research Center Curriculum

The curriculum takes students beyond the classroom and campus, and into a sustained commitment to active citizenship. Multiple semester partnerships with community organizations allow a two-way interaction to develop. Students contribute their skills to ongoing projects while also learning from community partners. The ARC oversees a three semester sequence of courses. Use the links below to find out more:

From the Kickapoo Creek Monitoring Project Binder:

"The primary goal of this internship is to gain field experience in both community activism as well as environmental monitoring.  While it may seem frustrating and overwhelming at times to accomplish all that needs to be done, you must realize that this is part of community action research.  Not everyone you need to reach will be available and at times your project will come to a dead end.  In order to receive all that this internship has to offer, we urge you to push past those obstacles and in return you will receive a rewarding experience that will teach you how to better handle such situations later on in life."
