IWU hosted a lunch workshop on "Community Development" on Wednesday, October 2, in the Main Lounge & Atrium, Memorial Center. The workshop, co-sponsored by an ARC Fellows grant and the Dean of Students Office, exposed students to some of the inequalities in our local community, revealed the complexities of solving problems of inequality, and provided time for brainstorming ideas on how campus groups might work with a community organization to effect positive change. Participants then voted on the idea they thought was the best, and the winner received a $300 grant toward the implementation of this idea.
Congratulations to the winner of the Community Partner Workshop award of $300, Green Top Grocery! This award will go toward their Fresh Produce Delivery Truck project. Click here to see a list of other great ideas generated by students, community partners, and faculty at this year's workshop.
