Sonic Exploration Society

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University’s School of Music will present the Sonic Exploration Society on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Westbrook Auditorium, Presser Hall (1210 Park St., Bloomington). The program is a part of the IWU New Music Series and is free and open to the public.

The Sonic Exploration Society consists of IWU Professor of Composition and Theory David Vayo on keyboards and performing vocals, Randy Reyman on the trumpet, William Koehler of Illinois State University on bass, Manpreet Bedi on the tabla and Bob McEntyre on drums.

Much of the music that will be performed is original material. The original compositions include “Close to the Heart” by Vayo and Bedi, Vayo’s “Singe” and “We Will,” “Averoes” by Koehler and “What if…?” by Reyman. There will also be improvisations performed between compositions.
