Normal Community High School graduate Terrence Chapman scored the first goal of his collegiate career in the 95th minute to lead Illinois Wesleyan's men's soccer team to a 3-2 overtime triumph over North Park in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match at Bloomington.
Chapman, a senior, scored on a shot approximately 15 yards in front of the goal on an assist from Paul Abraham. Abraham dribbled the ball the length of the field before passing the ball to Chapman.
"Paul made a great, heads-up play and went with speed all the way down the field," said IWU coach Steve Berry. "Terry went right with him. This was one of the best games we've played in a while. We played with a lot of heart and passion. We were committed as a team to get a win."
The Titans improved to 9-8-1 overall and second in the league at 3-2.
Illinois Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute on a goal by Chris Wirsing. Dan Lau had the assist.
North Park tied it in the 35th minute on the first of two unassisted goals by Greger Svenson.
The Titans broke a 1-1 tie as Chris Bobowski scored on a penalty kick in the 70th minute. But Svenson answered in the next minute to tie it at 2-2.
Illinois Wesleyan goalie Andrew Christman, an NCHS graduate, made six saves. Each team took eight
shots on goal.
